Braque du Bourbonnais

NAGDA Field Trial, Tehachapi (California), 24th of November 2012

Enslish Version

The Field Trial season is now in full swing and we have a heavy schedule. Last Saturday we competed at High River Hunt Club in Tehachapi CA in the NAGDA Qualifier event. The top 3 dogs in each Division are eligible to go to the NAGDA National which will be held in April in Wyoming.
We had a good group of dogs. Some of the breeds are not often seen in these trials. Amongst them was our Braque du Bourbonnais, Fletcher pedigree , Braquo Italiano, Pudle Pointer, English Pointers and German Shorthairs.
Fletcher impressed the gallery with a long and difficult retrieve as well as his excellent manners before and after the trial. He was the only dog off leashes at the start. These NAGDA tournaments are a little different from the BDC and NSTRA tournaments. The dogs must find, point and retrieve four birds in under 20 minutes. The handler must flush, shoot and bag the birds. Extra shots cost 10 points, partial retrieves are 5 points instead of 10, and trapped birds cost 5 points.

So it is team work between the dog and handler that win the day.... or not.
The results Bryce Mann with Bullet (Fletcher original trainer and Bullet our doubles partner in several events) took 1st Place, another GSP (Trigger II) took second place - This team won the NADGDA National last April, and Third was Fletcher.

These three dogs are now qualified for the NAGDA National in April 2013.br>
